    Curtiss-Wright wins AugustaWestland copter deal

Curtiss-Wright Controls said it has been selected by AgustaWestland in Yeovil to provide a custom Vibration Management System (VMS) computer for use on its Rotorcraft Technology Validation Programme (RTVP) demonstrator.

The ruggedised computer system will be designed and manufactured at the Curtiss-Wright Controls Electronic Systems business unit in Santa Clarita, California.

With custom I/O and conduction-cooled components, it will provide the processing to control vibrations within the main rotor head to reduce the vibration in the airframe.

Given the safety critical application, the VMS will be certifiable up to Level A and Level C of DO-254 and DO-178B specifications.

“Curtiss-Wright is very proud to have been selected by AgustaWestland,” said David Adams, co-chief operating officer of Curtiss-Wright.
